Outback Spirit Tours offers a range of unique adventure tours, desert safaris and luxury short stays across our beautiful country. We operate 9 lodges in some of the most remote, inaccessible and beautiful locations. ABOUT THE ROLE:
We are currently seeking a skilled Mechanic to join our team at our stunning lodges in Arnhem Land. In this role, you will be responsible for the servicing and maintenance of our premium Outback Spirit service fleet, which includes vehicles, vessels, and various machinery. Your efforts will help create a pleasant and safe environment for all guests, visitors, and employees.
Key responsibilities include:
* Prioritise and coordinate repairs and maintenance alongside management to ensure all fleet vehicles and vessels are operational for their scheduled tours.
* Conduct preventive maintenance servicing and breakdown repairs for all fleet items and property maintenance equipment, ensuring minimal disruption to guests.
* Carry out regular maintenance on prime power generators as needed to guarantee reliable power supply for the lodge.
* Utilise the most efficient and cost-effective methods to fulfil maintenance requirements while maintaining quality standards.
* Maintain a strong focus on safety by adhering to all workplace health and safety policies and procedures, promoting a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
This is a remote position, and you will be required to live and work at one of our properties for the entire season. We provide all meals and accommodation. Please be aware of the unique challenges and limitations associated with long-term remote living.
ABOUT YOU:
To succeed in this position, you will need to demonstrate proven experience as a mechanic, coupled with a strong attention to detail and the ability to troubleshoot problems effectively. Exceptional communication skills and strong customer service abilities are also essential.
The ideal candidate will possess:
* Mechanical experience with vehicles
* Mechanical experience with vessels
* Mechanical experience with generators
* Knowledge of diesel and unleaded petrol (ULP) motors
* Proficiency in repairing and troubleshooting mechanical and auto electrical equipment
* Proven knowledge of both marine vessels and land-based tour vehicles
* A mechanical trade qualification (covering both petrol and diesel engines)
* A valid Driver’s Licence (Medium Rigid (MR) or Heavy Rigid (HR) preferred)
* A Forklift Licence
* Previous experience in remote work environments
* Strong communication and literacy skills, coupled with a diligent work ethic and meticulous attention to detail
* A high level of computer proficiency, including analytical reporting skills
