This is a seasonal position for the duration of our Summer Camps, up to 40 Hours a week dependent on program registration. The term of the position is 11 weeks, beginning June 16, 2025 and ending August 29, 2025.This is an entry level supervisory position that oversees the Community Recreation Day Camp Leaders. The incumbent will ensure that a high level of customer service is maintained and that work is carried out in accordance with safety standards and best practices.Reporting to the Community Recreation Programmer, the Summer Camp Supervisor exercises independence of judgement and action within established policies, procedures and guidelines, referring difficult problems and impasses to their supervisor.Duties :Oversee all aspects of camp activitiesAssist the Community Recreation Programmer in the supervision of camp leadersAssist in the development and delivery of Camp Orientation and TrainingStep in as a leader in camps as needed, leading games, activities and craftsProvide a safe & supportive environment for participants & Camp LeadersWork with Camp Leaders, City Staff, parents, and caregivers to provide service excellenceCommunicate with Summer Camp Programmer on a daily basisSupport the Camp team in planning of activities, themes, and out trips, promotions and eventsPlanning, Organizing and purchasing of camp supplies within a pre-determined budgetAdministrative work, including printing and organizing forms, attendance sheets, maintaining recordsEducational Requirements :Standard First Aid and CPR C with AED certificationBCRPA High Five CertificationValid BC Driver’s Licence (Class 5 or 7N) and access to a reliable vehiclePost-Secondary education in Recreation or related subject an assetExperience with registration systems and Microsoft Office an assetThe applicant / incumbent will be required to provide a satisfactory criminal record check with Vulnerable Sector Screening in order to work in this position and must report to their Manager if any criminal charges are laid against them that may be related to their employment.Skill Requirements :Outstanding leadership and customer service skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a team in a culturally diverse community settingStrong communication and customer service skills and the ability to deal effectively with difficult or upset customers and camp participantsSalary : $24.90 hourly + 4% in lieu of benefitsAdditional Information : The City of Abbotsford is committed to creating a workplace that fosters a culture of diversity and inclusion.
