The National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO) is the national peak body representing 146 Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs), that provide primary healthcare across Australia. ACCHOs are currently the third largest employer of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. They range from large multi-functional services employing several medical practitioners and providing a wide range of services, to small services which rely on Aboriginal health practitioners and/or nurses to provide the bulk of primary health care services. The sector is rapidly increasing its service delivery footprint in disability, aged care, mental health, SEWB and AOD. About the role The Senior Finance Officer plays a key role in ensuring the integrity of NACCHO’s financial accounting system. The position is part of a small team and manages the taxation compliance, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions in addition to assisting with procurement activities as required. The position will also be required to assist with preparation of annual budgets, end of month and statutory end of year reporting in conjunction with other team members. The position will ideally suit someone with a strong attention to detail who wants to gain experience across all aspects of financial management.Qualifications, technical expertise and experience required•A minimum of three years demonstrated experience in a similar role.•Strong demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy.•Excellent organisational skills with demonstrated ability to effectively prioritise work to meet deadlines.•Effective written and verbal communication skills to provide information and influence desired outcomes•Demonstrated ability to generate solutions to problems that may arise in day-to-day tasks.•The ability to demonstrate resilience and adaptability, including flexibility to manage workloads and provide advice in an evolving environment.•Demonstrated knowledge of accrual accounting principles, and sound financial management governance.•Ability to work as part of a team.•An undergraduate qualification in accounting or equivalent level of education and experience is desirableThe position will be offered on a full-time basis, based in the Canberra office, and the successful applicant will be required to work in the office five days a week.Please see the Position Description to learn more about what we need you to bring to the team.
