Domestic and Family Violence Specialist Worker - Aboriginal Focused - GriffithThis position is open to female Aboriginal applicants only. Linking Communities Network Ltd considers being Aboriginal and a woman to be a genuine occupational qualification for this position under sections 14 and 31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).We are seeking to fill a position for an Aboriginal female Domestic and Family Violence Specialist Worker (Aboriginal Focused) in Murrumbidgee Women’s Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service (MWDVCAS). This position will be part of a team committed to eliminating violence against women and their children. This role is offered on a fixed term contract basis (35 hours per week) until 30th June 2028 and is based in our Griffith office with service to courts in the Murrumbidgee, including Griffith, Leeton, Narrandera, Hay and West Wyalong along with work from the Griffith Police Station as part of a pilot program for co-location.Workers in Murrumbidgee WDVCAS provide intake, information and referrals, threat assessment, case coordination, court assistance and court advocacy to WDVCAS clients. They work in partnership with NSW Police, local courts, legal representatives and referral agencies to ensure safety and support for women who are experiencing domestic violence. Murrumbidgee WDVCAS provides court assistance and court advocacy before, during and after court for clients who are going through the ADVO process at courts within the Murrumbidgee WDVCAS district. They also participate in the Co-Location Pilot Program within the NSW Police station at Griffith to provide domestic and family violence support for female clients who present to the police station.The Domestic and Family Violence Specialist Worker (Aboriginal Focused) provides accessible and relevant services to women and their children. The Aboriginal Focused worker will be responsible for maintaining and developing links with local Aboriginal communities to promote the services of the WDVCAS and encourage women to use the services.
