In Papua New Guinea, Harmony owns and operates the Hidden Valley mine and owns 50% of the Tier 1 Wafi-Golpu copper-gold project. Harmony recently acquired 100% of the Eva Copper project, a near-term copper project in Queensland, Australia. These assets are supported by the Harmony Australasia corporate office located in Milton, Brisbane.The Principal Geologist will provide guidance and assistance to the operations team in mining geology, drilling, sampling and assaying procedures and implementation to ensure representative data is collected. Critically evaluate geological potential and resource accuracy of existing operations. In collaboration with site and Brisbane staff ensure that Geology works related to mining operations and projects are planned and executed at a high standard to ensure effective and timely decision making to optimise the operation and mitigate risk.This dynamic role involves a combination of Brisbane-based work with flexible practices and on-site presence at Hidden Valley Mine in PNG, operating on the following roster; 9 days in PNG (Mine Site) 5 days off, followed by a 5/2 Mon-Fri rotation in Brisbane. Flexible working practises are available when working in Brisbane.Reporting to the Group Manager - Mining, the key responsibilities of this role include:Assist the Mine Geologists in geological systems including overview of the creation and updating of the Planning Model and end of month reporting and reconciliation.Oversee the operations 3D geological modelling and block modelling using appropriate software and review the Geostatistical analysis on resources and grade control programs.Ensure corporate QA/QC policy and procedures are followed and act as the operations custodian for QA/QC.Define and optimize required drilling/data collection for geology, geotechnical, hydrogeology and metallurgy, working with SME's across various disciplines to maximize value (data collected) for drilling expenditure and ensure alignment with Harmony standards.Ensure appropriate resourcing for all aspects of drill programs, working with regional and asset exploration and geology teams to define and control drilling, logging, sampling, and assay budgets including contractor and Consultant management.Evaluate, support, manage and recommend contractors and service providers for all aspects of operations and projects.
