The Department
The Canberra team is small and efficient, currently consisting of an ENG Supervisor, four full time camera operators and a team of casual camera operators.
The Canberra ENG & EFP (Electronic Field Production) Department, work with a range of cameras, equipment and editing systems, onsite and on location to ensure production demands are met. They are multi-skilled operators working across all areas of SBS, providing content for Digital and Linear programming. There is flexibility provided to work in a variety of different areas, film with different cameras and in different styles, which is unique to SBS.
You will be joining a Team that drive’s participation, integration, and utilisation of SBS technology, and support’s the adoption of new technology solutions.
The Role
Reporting into the Canberra ENG Supervisor within our Technology Operations and Services Department this role will see you,
1. Assume full creative and technical responsibility for both on-site and location recording of programs.
2. Work rostered shifts as required.
3. Travel locally and abroad at short notice.
4. Liaise with ENG Supervisor to identify and solve equipment maintenance problems and to improve working practices.
5. Provide reports and feedback where necessary or requested.
6. Edit all variety of news items to a high standard calmly under pressure and within a tight deadline, ensuring a consistent look and feel in line with the creative direction and SBS standard.
It is a requirement of this role that incumbents are vaccinated with at least two doses of an approved Covid-19 vaccination. We do however have a medical exemption process and we would be happy to discuss your application should this be applicable to you.
About you
7. As an SBS Team Member demonstrate a positive and enthusiastic understanding of SBS’s Purpose and Values and a commitment to a safe, secure, and diverse workplace.
8. Demonstrate an understanding and alignment with SBS’s value, including an ability to contribute to a positive culture be a positive representative or advocate for SBS.
9. Demonstrated experience operating ENG & EFP equipment including the ability to undertake basic repairs to the equipment when required.
10. Demonstrated experience to provide creative and technical expertise in recording both on site and on location for all programs and events as required.
11. Demonstrated ability to build relationships within Technology Operations & Services and with other parts of SBS and its external stakeholders.
12. Great communications and organisational skills including self-motivation and the ability to work under pressure.
