Job Description
We have an exciting and challenging opportunity available for an experienced SCOM SME and engineer to be part of a close-knit, multidisciplinary team. Your role will leverage your expert knowledge in the monitoring, performance tuning and continuous improvement of the customer’s key cloud IT Infrastructure and Services through best of breed technologies and practices. Your ability to problem solve and troubleshoot will be crucial in the prevention and treatment of major service interruptions and incidents, including technical advice, stakeholder engagement / communications, and coordination of / collaboration with technical SMEs towards resolution of issues and problems.
Working in a fast-paced environment in a collaborative team across BAU and projects, you will be with broad skillsets, you will be enabling and empowering operational administration, providing technical guidance and collaborate with other technical SMEs across the organisation on service improvement initiatives/projects to enhance efficiency, performance and reliability for our Customer, in an exciting opportunity to influence Defence’s ICT capability into the future.
You will be required to perform the following functions:
* Maintenance, uplift and performance tuning of SCOM in a large complex multi-domain environment
* Provide application and infrastructure support for the SCOM platform and create and maintain monitoring and notification rules
* Configuration of integration with ServiceNow
* Setup SCOM with SNMP traps
* Deliver SCOM views, create custom reports on results of SCOM monitoring, use SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) technologies, and provide problem resolution for SCOM components and related custom scripts
* Review and update SCOM console security, apply patches, create SCOM console roles and reviews, and create and install custom Management Packs (MP) as needed
* Identifies trends, implements new solutions/processes that fix issues, and continually strives toward moving from a reactive stance to a proactive stance

Coupled with your education and practical experience, you will demonstrate a ‘can-do’, pro-active, approach with the ability to understand the business, identify issues and develop relationships to achieve Leidos' and Customers’ objectives.
Professional experience within the relevant technologies and domains including:
* 5+ years of related experience in the setup, maintenance, uplift and performance tuning of large scale deployment of SCOM in complex multi-domain environments
* Experience as an Engineer in a multidisciplinary environment
* Knowledge of change and release management processes will be helpful
* Experience with data centre virtualization technologies (eg VMware) will be desirable
* Experience and knowledge of database systems is desirable
* Knowledge of internal SCOM database components
* Knowledge of Windows Server and Linux/Unix Operating systems.
* Experience with PowerShell scripting engine to automate tasks with SCOM
This role does require the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen and hold a current NV-2 or NV-1 security clearance. If you hold an NV-1 you must be willing to go through the process of gaining your NV-2.
