Our client requires a Support Services Manager to join their team as soon as possible for a 12-month fixed-term contract. This position will be reporting to the Chief Operations Officer and will have 5 direct Team Leader reports.
The organisation has been a dedicated specialist service in the broader south metropolitan region for over 50 years. They provide a variety of expert, evidence-based services aimed at breaking the cycle for disadvantaged people.
Your new role
Leadership & Team Guidance
* Lead and guide team leaders to ensure high-quality, effective services.
* Support team leaders in managing complex clients and caseloads.
Strategic Contributions
* Participate in leadership meetings to implement strategic and operational plans.
* Develop and maintain continuous improvement mechanisms, learning and development activities, and promote best practices.
* Foster a strong organisational culture aligned with the vision, mission, and values.
Stakeholder Engagement
* Build and maintain networks and relationships with professionals both within and outside the organisation to support partnerships and collaboration.
* Represent the organisation in stakeholder meetings, forums, and committees.
Reporting, Contract Management & Administration
* Ensure service contract reporting requirements are met, including preparing relevant reports and service reviews.
* Implement systems to capture quality, data, and program evaluations as required by funding contracts and service agreements.
* Manage program budgets and contribute to the development of service agreements and tender documents.
* Advise the COO on developments impacting support services operations.
Human Resources
* Provide induction, supervision, and daily support to staff.
* Conduct performance development monitoring and annual reviews of staff.
Risk Management
* Stay updated on national and state service standards relevant to the work.
* Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies while ensuring compliance obligations are met.
* Promote consistent quality practice and ensure review and evaluation processes are in place.
Occupational Health & Safety
* Support the organisation in meeting its obligations under occupational health and safety laws.
* Contribute to strategies for creating a healthy and safe work environment.
* Maintain records related to identified risks and critical incidents.
What you'll need to succeed
Role-Specific Requirement:
* Experience providing service provision to people with complex issues.
* Understanding of public, private, and community housing options for people in housing crises.
* Understanding best practices for effective support service delivery.
* Experience in project or program management, including staff management and leadership.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong team orientation and client focus.
* Analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent report writing skills.
* Ability to plan, prioritise, multitask, and lead teams to deliver quality and timely outcomes.
* Ability to establish effective working relationships with people from diverse socioeconomic, multicultural, and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
* Understanding issues affecting the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, particularly regarding transience and homelessness, along with cultural awareness and sensitivities.
* Relevant computer skills in MS Office software and applications.
Desirable
* Experience managing multiple programs and budgets.
