The Position
Reporting directly to the CEO, this critical role will provide the technical expertise to support business expansion and growth in the export oaten hay industry. Through technical support, the position will help educate Balco’s customer base, focus on the nutritional benefits of Australian Oaten Hay.
Key accountabilities will include, but not limited to:
1. Develop and implement research program including establishing and maintaining testing procedures for assessing raw materials, in both process and finished products
2. Build research programs incorporating current developments to improve existing products and potential new products
3. Writing and developing technical proposals
4. Proactively target tender or grant opportunities across various stakeholder groups including Government and Universities
5. Report on company product technical issues as well as technical developments within the market
6. Build ongoing collaboration across Balco to proactively target new opportunities for learning and growth in the R&D area
7. Develop an engagement plan for connecting with Universities, Government and the broader Agriculture sector
8. Present at relevant industry events on research topics
9. Prepare educational material to support global understanding in the use of oaten hay
The Person
We are keen to hear from you if you possess the following background, skills and experience:
10. A master’s degree in plant (pasture) or Animal science, with a PhD considered highly advantageous
11. Background experience working in an Agricultural (or similar related sector) with experience in grasses and/or dairy milk nutrition and production highly desirable
12. Extensive research experience including published research articles in related field
13. Sound understanding and experience of working in a corporate environment
14. Excellent relationship building skills across government, academia, corporate agribusiness and other key stakeholders
15. Excellent report preparation, combined with sound verbal and written communication skills
16. Excellent attention to detail, organisational and planning skills
