Pembroke Resources is an Australian company that owns the Olive Downs Complex, a large-scale world-class steelmaking coal mine located in the Bowen Basin of Queensland. Over $1 billion has been invested in the Complex and operations commenced in June 2023.
The Olive Downs Complex has been built to be a mine of the future, with fully autonomous haulage and drilling implemented from day one, enabling an efficient ramp up to the Stage 1 production level of 6 million tonnes per annum. It is also setting new standards in embedded ESG practices.

About the Role
We are committed to expanding our internal project management capabilities. This role is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Project Engineer to join our Olive Downs Complex site team.
The Project Engineer is responsible for providing engineering and technical support to a portfolio of sustaining capital projects at our operating coal mine. The role supports the Project Leads to define, optimise, plan and deliver projects through the entire project lifecycle from initiation through to commissioning and handover.
As a key link between internal teams, external contractors, and suppliers, you will ensure efficient, compliant, and high-quality project execution. This is a site-based role that requires strong engineering, project management, and stakeholder coordination skills to drive the successful delivery of projects.
Key Activities
* Engineering Support – Provide technical expertise and oversee engineering aspects throughout the project lifecycle.
* Project Planning & Execution – Assist in defining requirements, planning, and delivering capital projects.
* Quality & Compliance – Develop and implement quality management plans to ensure high standards.
* Construction & Commissioning – Support construction teams and lead commissioning and handover processes.
* Risk & Performance Management – Identify risks, track project progress, and implement improvements.
* Stakeholder Coordination – Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and suppliers to ensure project success.
Professional Skills/Qualifications Required
* Minimum of 5 years’ experience in operational and/or project settings, preferably within the mining/resources sector.
* Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field, OR a technical trade background with extensive Project Engineering experience.
Personal Skills Required
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to engage with stakeholders and provide clear technical guidance.
* Ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with internal teams, external contractors, and suppliers.
* Adaptability and resilience to thrive in a dynamic, site-based environment.
