To do so, we need the help of a Product Development Specialist to join our growing operations team. In this role, our Product Development Specialist will be reporting to our Head of Category to bring all our product ideas to life.
To be successful in this role, you will have the highest of highs attention to detail and can-do attitude. We're looking for someone who can juggle multiple projects at any given time. You'll need to have the ability to think on your feet as you strap in to join a global business that isn't slowing down.
Specific duties & responsibilitiesProcurementCreate and maintain comprehensive project documentation including work templates and meeting notes.Attend industry forums with Head of Category to strengthen relationships with suppliers.New Product DevelopmentAssist with the project management of new product development to ensure that all deadlines are being met.Collaborating with cross-functional teams to conceptualise and deliver on the NPD roadmap timeline.Keep up to date on trending products and viral moments that fit in with GEMs vision.Do market research on competitors relative to the new product development to ensure that we put our best foot forward with NPD.Assist with SKU setup and BOM build ensuring that data entered is all correct and organised in CIN7.Attend weekly WIPs with suppliers/manufacturers and keep record of meeting notes, distributing these to relevant stakeholders after the meetings.Collaborate closely with internal teams (design, supply chain, sales, marketing) to ensure that relevant stakeholders are across key product development updates.Drive product improvement by leading initiatives to enhance processes and our market position.Identify the bottlenecks and suggest solutions to optimise efficiency.Work closely with the Head of Category, to gather, document, and prioritise product requirements.Distribute NPD samples within the team and collate feedback from the broader business on improvements.Coordinate NPD samples to marketing team and assist with photoshoot stock requirements.ProductionsRaise purchase orders for finished products and componentry in Cin7.Update production schedule and communicate to relevant stakeholders on finished goods ready date.Liaise with suppliers to track manufacturing and delivery of components and products.Escalate any delays or bottlenecks on inventory/NPD to the Head of Category.Maintain and develop excellent relationships with suppliers so they understand our goals and we can understand their opportunities.Join weekly/monthly manufacturer calls ensuring that projects and productions are all on track.Review what our customers are saying about us both in-stores and online to ensure that we're always meeting their needs through product alterations and product launch ideas.Coordinate, record and trace all samples to and from manufacturers.Reporting/ CIAssist with any monthly reporting required.Manage the GEM master data ensuring that all product dimensions, barcodes and weights are accurately reflective.Assist with New Line Forms providing necessary information for the wider business as required.LogisticsCoordinate stock/componentry deliveries from suppliers/manufacturers to local and international 3PLs.Arrange import and export documentation so that customs clearance is as seamless as possible.Manage the global delivery tracker to ensure all shipments are organised and tracked accordingly.Source quotes for delivery of inventory ensuring that we're negotiating the best possible price.Be the go-to contact for our freight forwarders with any questions relating to our deliveries.Ensure that all landed costs are recorded accurately and timely, in CIN7.ComplianceWork with the design team to ensure that artwork has all necessary and correct information including copy, ingredients, barcodes etc per GEM standards and country of launch.Work with the design team on new and existing packaging artwork briefs; primary, secondary and tertiary packaging.Ensure that all products are compliant for the relevant market ahead of launch by working closely with RP to ensure that briefs and timelines are sent and managed.Work with compliance agency to ensure that the compliance needs are all met and correct documentation is referenced.Manage (alongside Head of Category) the end-to-end compliance piece for each individual product in global markets including but not limited to, gathering of correct documentation, working with manufacturers on gaining relevant material, briefing in design team to make relevant artwork changes, storing PIF reports accurately, etc.Ensure all barcodes are up to GS1-standards by coordinating submissions and artwork changes required.RequirementsMinimum 1 years' experience in project management, manufacturing or product development desiredPrevious experience working in the FMCG industry, beauty space preferred but not essentialHigh level of critical thinking and problem-solving skillsThe ability to be proactive as well as reactive, compare the dynamic needs of the business and our customersAn excellent communicator (both verbal and written) with strong interpersonal skillsAble to juggle multiple projects, responsibilities and priorities concurrentlyAble to work autonomously but also collaboratively in a team environmentHigh level of attention to detailAvailable to travel domestically as well as internationally if and as requiredAn innovative thinker who adds to and supports a culture of creativity, positivity, growth and teamworkSeniority levelEntry levelEmployment typeFull-timeJob functionProduct Management and MarketingIndustriesConsumer Goods
