Principal DevOps Engineer Employment type: Full Time, Temporary (until October 2025)Grade: Clerk Grade 11/12Salary Range: $145,378 - $168,130 + superannuationLocation: Sydney with weekly office attendance and hybrid workingThe Platform engineering team is a small fast-paced agile team, working on new platform enhancements and projects. We are currently building out web applications that automatically provision secure Azure infrastructure. We work in an Agile environment and closely as a cohesive team unit.
Key responsibilities Design and Deliver Scalable Solutions: Build and deploy resilient, reusable platform services using modern coding practices, focusing on creating and enhancing data analytics environments for customers.Develop Modern Web Applications: Lead development efforts on our web app, built with Express TypeScript for the backend and React for the frontend, ensuring high-quality, scalable solutions.Leverage Azure Services: Utilize various Azure services, including App Services, to support platform automation, performance optimization, and seamless deployments.Drive Technical Excellence: Champion coding best practices, including Test-Driven Development (TDD), adherence to SOLID principles, Domain-Driven Design, and API design for robust web applications.Collaborate and Innovate: Work closely with cross-functional product teams during discovery and delivery phases, incorporating design elements to ensure optimal platform outcomes that align with strategic goals.To be successful in this role you will demonstrate: Proven experience as a Principal Engineer, Software Engineer, or similar role with a strong focus on coding and web application development.Deep expertise in React and Express TypeScript for building scalable, high-quality backend and frontend solutions.Strong proficiency in API design and development for modern web applications.Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, including time complexity, SOLID principles, Domain-Driven Design, and Test-Driven Development (TDD).A problem-solving mindset with the ability to design innovative, fit-for-purpose solutions using code-first approaches.Experience thriving in a fast-paced agile environment, delivering resilient, web-based solutions.Excellent communication skills for collaborating with diverse stakeholders and mentoring team members.Advantage: Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) on Azure, including App Services and platform automation.Experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).Knowledge of ISO security best practices and cloud engineering trends.Exposure to building and deploying solutions in Azure environments.What we need from you To apply for this role please click on the link below and attach your resume (max 5 pages) and cover letter (max 2 pages).
