Icebolethu Group is currently in search of a qualified Fleet Manager to be based at our Fleet Centre in Westmead, Pinetown. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to various business units within the Group in line with organisational operational objectives, handling all facets of fleet activities including logistics, vehicle maintenance, managing drivers, negotiating with suppliers, and more.
Qualifications, Experience & Competencies Minimum Qualifications National Senior Certificate/ Grade 12. Degree in Logistics, Operations and Business Management or equivalent. Experience and Knowledge Required Minimum of 2 years in a logistics role. Basic knowledge of computer applications. At least 2 years of driving experience in a delivery role. Minimum of 5 years working experience in a similar role. Skills and Competence Required Analytical mindset and good problem-solving skills. Quantitative ability. Exceptional interpersonal skills. Good communication skills – verbal and written. Key Performance Areas: Maintain departmental compliance with company policies and procedures. Keep a log of completed DVIRs critical to passing a DOT audit or road check. Create a fleet management KPI to target thorough inspections to maintain compliance. Monitor completion rates in fleet management software to ensure compliance and keep informed of vehicles requiring maintenance. Ensure compliance with government regulations related to the transportation industry. Implement preventive measures to improve health safety while minimizing injuries on duty. Participate in workshops and programs to keep up with industry trends. Utilize fleet management software for data collection and monitoring vehicle performance. Screen and analyze acquired data to take necessary measures to reduce operational costs. Monitor fuel purchases by administering fuel cards for all vehicles to regulate costs/expenses. Ensure the department is adequately staffed, and timesheets are captured and submitted for processing. Select appropriate vehicles, maintain them, and ensure they are in good condition for operational functions. Schedule programs to maintain vehicles' operational abilities and prolong their lifespan. Use devices to monitor drivers' patterns, such as speeding and excessive braking. Implement GPS systems for vehicle tracking and delivery management. Ensure all vehicles are properly registered and inspected regularly. Decide on vehicle purchases and necessary equipment. Oversee the sale and/or auction of used vehicles when due. Negotiate financing methods for the fleet. Arrange for the resale of used vehicles at the highest possible price. Create or appoint an external auto-service centre for vehicle maintenance and spare parts supply. Negotiate strict vehicle-servicing time limits with auto-service centres. Ensure timely vehicle servicing to maintain delivery schedules and revenue levels. Implement and enforce transportation scheduling and policy changes. Create and manage fleet policies and procedures, including vehicle assignments and accident reporting.
