Hays Construction North Queensland are excited to partner with a renowned government organisation who provide essential maintenance and building services across Far North Queensland. They are currently seeking a self-motivated and dedicated Project Manager to join their busy team on a short-term contract with possible extension. This role is based in Cairns.
Your new role
We are excited to invite a skilled Project Manager to join the team, where you'll lead end-to-end building project implementation, from pre-design to post-construction. Key responsibilities include coordinating diverse project teams and stakeholders, managing contracts across traditional and non-traditional systems, and ensuring project objectives align with client scope, time, budget, and quality requirements. You will also drive negotiations with consultants and contractors to deliver value-for-money outcomes, oversee variance control and project audits, and contribute to the company's profitability. Mentoring and managing team performance while upholding quality assurance will be central to your role, along with fostering effective communication and collaboration across all project phases. This is your chance to make an impact through dynamic leadership and expert project management.
What you'll need to succeed
* Extensive project management experience in the construction industry
* A Bachelor of Engineering or other relevant discipline
* Experience with building, civil, or infrastructure projects
* Excellent planning and decision-making skills, especially under pressure.
* Proficiency in managing subcontractors, suppliers, and self-performance works.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software.
What you'll get in return
In return, you will have an immediately available, up to 40hr per week, contract role, Monday - Friday, within the public sector based in Mackay, paying an attractive hourly rate of $76.50 + Super - you will work in a well-established, friendly, and fast-paced team and your contribution will be valued in the ongoing success of this busy department.
