You will provide support and assistance to the Regional Coordinator in the development, coordination, and evaluation of operations and supporting functions across the Torres Strait area. You will work collaboratively across program streams and stakeholders to deliver standardised and integrated capabilities into operations. You will support the Regional Coordinator in the provision of strategic advice for capability focused projects and monitor interdependences across multiple initiatives to facilitate the successful delivery of the program and support the operational capability of a new integrated marine rescue service
Your Key Accountabilities:
The core capability requirements for this role are:
1. Assist with the implementation of the operational service delivery plan and provide advice on associated response planning arrangements and programs.
2. Coordinate the delivery of operational outcomes in cooperation with volunteers in a dynamic disaster/emergency management or similar environment.
3. Maintain working knowledge and practical application of the applicable legislation and guidelines.
4. Assist with the coordination and delivery of outcomes in partnership with staff from local government, other government agencies, authorities, Indigenous communities and community groups to build capability and evaluate the effectiveness of programs.
5. Assist with the delivery of community education and awareness programs in accordance with agreed community education strategic plans and represent MRQ as a member of Disaster Management Groups as required.
6. Assist with the coordination, delivery and implementation of operational and administrative policy, equipment and processes and participate in post event analysis and debriefs for the region.

7. Possession of Open ‘C' Class Queensland Drivers Licence
8. Qualification Certificate II Coxswain NC (Grade 1) equivalent or higher
Technical/Operational/Educational experience:
9. Experience in Maritime Search and Rescue Organisations (national/international), or be willing to acquire formal search and rescue qualifications within six months of commencement. Knowledge and/or qualifications in project management or previous experience leading or working in a large complex project/program management environment.
10. Experience in development of artefacts to communicate complex matters simply to a wide stakeholder base. Knowledge and/or qualifications in Disaster Management
Other:
Capacity to support operational duties during disaster events. This may require work outside of normal hours (e.g. night shift), including weekends, working extended hours and may include deployment to other parts of the State.
