Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a seasoned Technical Director/ Senior Renewable Energy Engineer to join our Northern NSW Energy Team, to be based in Newcastle. This role will work with the broader enterprise (nationally and globally) to service clients and deliver projects in the power sector across the full project lifecycle. These projects will have a particular focus on renewable energy generation and energy storage, and therefore you will directly contribute to the continued decarbonisation and modernisation of the power system.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you:
14. Scoping, leading and contributing technical expertise to pre-feasibility, feasibility studies and concept designs for renewable power generation and energy storage projects
15. Leading and overseeing the output of relevant project teams to achieve project milestones and objectives; owning the output of the project by delegating and enabling team members and drawing upon the wider GHD Future Energy network for support where required.
16. Contributing to the development of GHD’s knowledge and skills in power generation engineering including renewable energy and storage development, design, construction, operation and maintenance.
17. Effectively communicating with stakeholders, including clients, vendors and internal.
18. Leveraging background/contacts to developing business and contributing to winning work.
19. Leading the preparation of proposals, bringing the best of GHD to meet the needs of our clients.
What you will bring to the team:
20. Formal qualifications in electrical, mechanical, chemical, or renewable engineering (BEng or equivalent acceptable to Engineers Australia). CPEng and RPEQ are desirable.
21. Curiosity, a willingness to learn and adaptability
22. Experience in the design and implementation of renewables or storage projects (., solar, wind, PHES and/or BESS).
23. Experience performing energy yield assessments for solar PV or wind projects (desirable)
24. 7-10 years’ of relevant experience in power generation projects (in a consultancy, development, contractor, or an OEM role)
25. Experience leading and contributing to concept design, detailed design and/or feasibility studies for renewable energy or energy storage projects.
26. Experience with relevant software packages (. HOMER, PVSyst, WindPRO, Thermoflow).
27. Experience and a sound understanding of current power generation technologies, including methods of installation, operation, and configuration.
28. Strong understanding of renewable project planning and development processes
29. Project management experience (desirable)
