The Role:
We are currently seeking a Plant Metallurgist to join our client's team for an initial 3 month project with the possibility of permanency. As a Plant Metallurgist, you will play a key role in ensuring the day-to-day plant performance meets production KPIs and maintains the integrity of metallurgical accounting. This position offers a 15/13 FIFO ex Perth roster with travel on company time.
The Nickel Plant produces a bulk Nickel Concentrate via single-stage crushing, closed circuit SAG Mill, flash and non-sequential flotation, thickening and press filtration dewatering.
Your responsibilities as the Plant Metallurgist will include:
1. Daily metallurgical accounting and production dashboard reporting to management.
2. Planning and execution of ROM Feed Blend for the Crushing and Mill plants.
3. Liaising with the Geology and Mining department for feed plans and off-spec feed quality management.
4. Coordinating production targets with the O&M team to meet shipment requirements.
5. Liaising with the laboratory for sample priority, quality checks, and additional assay requests.
6. Conducting test works for production investigation and providing analysis and recommendations to management.
7. Assisting in plant gauge and instrument calibration as needed.
8. Providing knowledge-based training to the operations team and performing in plant operation roles as needed.
9. Performing metallurgical mass and water balance, process assessment, equipment calculations, and cost estimations.
10. Providing plant data to the Project Engineer for optimization works and projects.
About You:
11. Tertiary qualification in Metallurgy and/or Process/Chemical Engineering with at least three (3) years of experience in wet plant operations.
12. Experience in flotation operation, specifically Nickel sulphide mines, is highly desirable.
13. Highly knowledgeable in Metallurgical Accounting, Statistical Analysis, Test work interpretations, and wet plant operation principles. Geomet experience in base metal mineralogy and studies is desirable.
14. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Able to work effectively and efficiently within set timelines.
15. Knowledgeable in MS Office applications and plant operation software.
16. Knowledgeable in On Stream Analyzer or similar applications for real-time assay interpretation.
