Our People and Culture department is seeking an experienced Work Health and Safety professional to join our forward-thinking team. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact within our Council, building positive relationships and driving continuous improvements in safety standards across our diverse operations.
You’ll be working with a motivated team of experts and partnering with inspiring leaders who are passionate about their work and Lake Mac. Working with the Built and Natural Assets directorate, you’ll leverage your civil construction and maintenance expertise to influence, empower and support key stakeholders to ensure we continue to improve culture that will make a difference to how work is done.
You are passionate about creating safe and healthy workplaces, utilising your extensive knowledge and experience. You will have highly developed influencing and interpersonal skills which enable you to build and maintain effective workplace relationships. Your approachable and empathetic style, combined with a professional approach, will make you a trusted advisor to our team.
Your experience working in diverse organisations, especially within civil construction and infrastructure industries, will be invaluable in ensuring compliance with safety legislation and fostering a culture of safety within our workplace.
You will also bring:
* Bachelor’s degree qualification in relevant field OR extensive and contemporary equivalent qualifications and experience
* Proven highly developed research, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse safety data and deliver safety insights to leaders
* Proven experience leading complex incident investigations, safety observations and conversations, audits and site inspections
* Demonstrated strength in mentoring, coaching and facilitating individuals and groups in the completion of investigations, observations, inspections and safety improvement projects
* High-calibre written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce high quality documentation and tailor communication styles to suit specific audiences
* Highly developed project management and organisational skills, including the ability to manage a large portfolio of projects with competing demands
* Current Class C Drivers Licence.
