A leading government agency in Canberra is seeking a Cabling Technician for an initial 12 month contract to join their ICT Fibre Networks Team 12 month contract 12 month extension $95p/h SA rate on offer Must have power and structured data cabling experience A leading government agency is seeking a Cabling Technician for an initial 1 2 month contract based in Canberra. The Cabling Technician will assist in the delivery of fibre, power and copper cabling infrastructure within a small team of specialists to support and manage the ACT Government private network. Key responsibilities: Undertake and/or assist in the implementation of fibre, power and copper cabling infrastructure in data centres and communications facilities infrastructure used by the ACT Government. Assist in the management of ACT Government private fibre optic network used by the ACT Government. Assist in the design of all moves, adds, and changes to the fibre network asset, inclusive of pit/pipe infrastructure, cable distribution, and end-to-end connectivity (link splicing) solutions. Assist in estimates, drawings, and scope of works documentation for tasks including, but not limited to, the connection of buildings, Data Centres, Public Safety CCTV cameras and Intelligent Transport Systems. Carry out onsite quality assurance checks/inspections on all components of completed power infrastructure and fibre infrastructure Train and support team members in operational and peripheral tasks required within the environment. Key requirements for this role: Minimum of 10 years’ demonstrated knowledge and experience in power and structured data cabling Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the design, installation and management of ICT power and structured data cabling infrastructure in data centres and communications rooms. Relevant degree, diploma, certificate, vocational or industry certificate in the Telecommunications field and relevant work experience is essential. Un-restricted electrical licence is essential. Master cabler open registration cabling licence is essential. Class C driver licence is essential.
