Payroll Services are looking to recruit Payroll Officers to assist with administering pay and conditions for the ACTPS. The essential qualities for a successful Payroll Officer include:
Ability to multitask – We handle an average of 15,000 individual payroll actions each pay fortnight; the ability to multitask and complete work on time is crucial.Enjoy working to a deadline – We have 9 full working days each fortnight to complete the pay for the next payday; meeting these strict deadlines is essential for payroll.Embracing a highly operational area – With 15,000 individual jobs arriving each fortnight for action, there is always something to do.Great customer service skills – As we provide information on pay and entitlements, we communicate with the 30,000 strong ACTPS staff on a daily basis.Ability to apply and interpret legislation – We work to 18 separate Enterprise Agreements and follow a variety of other legislated requirements; it is crucial to know and follow these for accuracy.Ability to work collaboratively in a team – Payroll is a team of over 100 people, with all different experiences and backgrounds. Note: This is a temporary position available immediately for a period of six months with the possibility of extension up to 12 months and/or permanency.
A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
This position will be moving to a new workplace designed for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.
