This role will support the organisation by identifying ways to manage costs efficiently in line with accounting principles and practices.The Finance Manager is responsible for the transactional accounting activities to ensure the efficient and effective management of Accounts Payable and Receivable and other activities impacting upon the financial performance and reporting of Australian Energy Producers.Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Establishing and maintaining effective financial controls and systems, including GL, preparing journals and reconciliations, internal charging, control and suspense accounts, period-end, and year-end processes.Maintaining the financial accounts and general ledger system and supporting the budgeting process.Oversee, and as required action, data entry across different software platforms.Producing monthly financial management reports, P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow statements.Preparing, reviewing, and maintaining internal financial policies and procedures.Ensuring AEP's compliance with statutory requirements including Payroll Tax, Superannuation, FBT and BAS lodgements including the preparation of tax lodgements.Supporting the internal and external audit function.Analysing and reporting on operational performance variances to budget.Providing analysis and advice and assisting with the preparation of Board reports.About You To succeed in this role, you will have:Demonstrated experience in a similar role.Highly developed experience with Xero or similar financial systems.Tertiary qualifications in business, commerce, accountancy or related discipline.Membership of Australian Society of CPAs or Chartered Institute of Accountants, or equivalent.Highly developed skills to analyse, interpret, reconcile, forecast, budget and communicate financial information to make informed business decisions.In-depth knowledge of, and skills using, computer-based office systems, including Office365, spreadsheeting, and database software.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills allied to practical judgement.High-level verbal and written communication skills including presentation skills.Interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise effectively with people at all levels.Well-developed priority-setting skills and the ability to meet deadlines.Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.Knowledge of financial reporting in a member organisation (Desirable).We welcome your application in the form of a cover letter highlighting your experience and interest along with a detailed CV.1.
