About The Role
Currie & Brown are looking for an experience Project Manager from within the Defense sector to join our Melbourne team. In this role you will be responsible for the full project lifecycle through to delivery on strategically important defense construction projects, but will also have exposure to local government projects, university and education sector building and commercial fit out projects. The role is a diverse and interesting mix.
Responsibilities will include:
1. Working autonomously and as part of a team to deliver project tasks
2. Working within Currie & Brown guidelines and the project management toolkit to manage projects in accordance with contractual requirements
3. Planning and delivering construction projects from concept to completion
4. Preparing or assisting in the preparation of site assessments, due diligence reports, cost reports, project control group reports, construction reports and completion reports
5. Managing internal and external project stakeholders, consultants and contractors
6. Managing design development, co-ordination, reviews and approvals during planning and construction phases
7. Undertaking procurement management, including review of trade tender packages
8. Appointing and managing contractors while maintaining probity requirements
9. Handling contract administration, including evaluation of progress claims, variations, extensions of time and completing documentation
10. Monitoring and managing completion activities including commissioning, handover, take-over and defects
11. Preparing project programmes and monitoring projects in line with those programmes developed by a contractor and approved by the client
12. Monitoring project costs in line with the approved budget
13. Monitoring and reporting on actual performance compared with the programme
14. Liaising with local authorities as required to ensure that the works are authorised as the project progresses
15. Ensuring monitoring, reporting and compliance with occupational health and safety regulations
16. Ensuring that a system of quality assurance is in place to ensure the production of the highest quality of work in design, construction and administration
17. Continually seeking and capitalising upon opportunities to increase client satisfaction and deepen client relationships
Requirements:
18. Degree in a construction or engineering-related discipline such as construction management, M&E/civil engineering, architecture or project management
19. A minimum of seven years’ experience working on defense project
20. Current security clearance
21. Proficient in MS Office tools including Word, Excel and Project
22. Experience in advisory services (risk management, workshop facilitation) desirable
23. Excellent communication and client-facing skills
