Casual position, starting December 2024.
Reporting to the After School Care & Camps Coordinator, the After School Care Worker will come with a love of children aged 5 – 11 years, the energy and enthusiasm to provide varied and enjoyable activities, and the ability to work with parents and staff in a friendly and effective manner.
Duties include:
1. Planning activities.
2. Set up and clean up.
3. Guiding children and assisting in the After School Care program.
4. Attending team meetings, staff meetings, and training sessions.
5. Ensuring all licensing regulations are understood, practiced, and adhered to.
Work Schedule:
The program operates Monday to Friday between 3:15 pm and 5:30 pm. Coverage is also needed during intermittent day camps, and for vacation and sick relief. Ideal candidates would have three days of availability each week, but flexibility exists with this role.
Qualifications:
1. Knowledge of the BC Child Care Licensing Regulations.
2. Current resume, cover letter, and two character references.
3. Applicant must be a minimum of 19 years of age.
4. Must meet Island Health licensing requirements for Criminal Record check, current First Aid and CPR; at least 20 hours of relevant training in either child development, guidance, health and safety, or nutrition (must be certified).
5. Able to work as an effective team member.
6. Able to work with a flexible schedule.
7. Experience working with groups of children 5-11 years of age in a childcare/recreational setting.
8. Able to work with parents and staff in a friendly and effective manner.
Pay Range:
Hourly range: $21.23 - $24.97
Criminal Record Check:
Must pass and maintain a clear Solicitor General criminal record check for the purpose of working with children.
