As part of a multidisciplinary Mental Health Service delivering high quality mental health care, the Staff Specialist - Consultant Psychiatrist:
1. Provides a comprehensive general adult Consultation-Liaison (CL) psychiatric service in the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) and associated facilities, including the Emergency Department (ED) and the Mental Health Short Stay Unit (MHSSU).
2. Acts as a consultant to mental health professionals and health service providers regarding the assessment and management of individuals with mental health disorders.
3. Undertakes supervisory responsibilities with psychiatric registrars and other medical staff as required and appropriate.

Details of appointment:
Permanent full time, day worker (with on-call) position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies for a period of twelve months from the date of publication.
Specialist Medical Practitioners
Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1- Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 $216,300 - $310,389 per annum, pro rata + 11.5% superannuation + access to salary packaging.
Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $300,216 - $310,389 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2, or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award.
o Salary range is in accordance with Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022
In addition, the following allowances and benefits may be available:
o Salary packaging options include a range of benefits like living expenses up to $9,010 and $2,650 in meals and entertainment every year.
o Provision of a fully maintained private plated motor vehicle or motor vehicle allowance of $28,389 per annum, pro rata.
o Subject to approval from the Private Patient Scheme Committee (PPS), 35% of base salary plus on-call, pro rata, will be paid from PPS.
o Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,480 per annum.
o Travel and relocation assistance support available up to $15,000 for eligible appointees from overseas, and up to $10,000 for appointees from interstate.
o A range of leave entitlements, including study leave and Professional Development Support.
o Fitness Passport – You, and your family can access 40+ fitness facilities across Tasmania for just $13.95 per week per person, or $25.95 for a family.

Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria as:
o Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty. Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role.
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
o Staff employed against this Statement of Duties as a Visiting Medical Practitioner will be employed in accordance with the Tasmanian Visiting Medical Practitioners (Public Sector) Agreement and remunerated accordingly.
