About the role
We are currently seeking a Health and Safety Advisor to join our Rail Operations hub based in Telarah, NSW (Hunter Valley region).
Rail Operations is an internal business unit within Laing O’Rourke, specialising in the sole delivery of all aspects of Rail, working with a team of technical experts to deliver a high portfolio of work across New South Wales.
Key responsibilities
1. Collect, verify, collate and present statistics to identify trends in performance for the project and team members
2. Maintain and monitor key performance metrics for the project and provide regular updates in accordance with business requirements
3. Assists with the development, upkeep and revision of all HSE & Rail Safety Plans, monitoring requirements within the plans are established, implemented, maintained, communicated, and understood
4. Health and Safety training for staff and workforce
5. Conduct accident / incident investigation and reporting
6. Provides Health Safety Environmental Management System (HSEMS) and contractual requirements coaching.
7. Carry out HSE inspections / audits as well as developing and delivering Prestart & toolbox talks
8. Monitoring and conducting regular HSE and Rail Safety governance checks within the project sites including Collective Insights, Positive Investigations, FSR’s / SER’s, Chain of Responsibility, reporting breaches & recommending remedial actions.
About you
9. Certificate IV OHS and or working towards Graduate Certificate, Diploma OHS, Certificate in Risk management.
10. Demonstrated experience in assisting supervision and management with HSE issue / action closeout within the workplace
11. Has been effective in managing site-based hazards and risks and able to plan and carry out safety inspections
12. Previous experience working in high-risk construction industry
13. Able to coordinate basic Health and safety training and assist in the identification of significant factors affecting the project design and help with the design risk assessment.
14. Understands basic environmental risk management
15. Rail experience preferred
