ABOUT THE ROLE The primary focus of the Radiographer is to perform radiographic examinations providing high quality diagnostic imaging service and patient care in order to assist in the management of patients referred from clinicians.

• Inhouse Training RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE The Radiographer reporting to the Radiographer In Charge and is responsible for: • Perform high quality medical imaging diagnostic examinations in compliance with protocols within nominated timeframes.
• Understand nursing procedures for the patients examined and the procedures for medical emergencies, infection control and interventional techniques • Be able to work with radiologist in the performance of procedures and to assist them as required.
This includes knowledge of sterile techniques.
• Be familiar with all equipment and accessories provided so that a fluent examination can be undertaken • Perform patient registration, billing and payment receipting (as required) • Ensure correct film identification and any other administrative functions necessary for the production of Xray • Assume responsibility for the condition of equipment at the time of use and report any faults to the radiographer in charge and document faults in the faults folder • Participate in quality assurance and audit initiatives when required • Carry out examinations at the direction and discretion of the Radiographer In Charge.
• Work autonomously and as part of a team to ensure effective communication and delivery of high quality care to patients in a professional, caring and sympathetic manner • Participate in the site roster system including participating in an on-call roster when required.
• Optimising allocated appointment times for the South Coast Radiology Group.
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE • Qualification which entitles Certificate of Accreditation with the AIR and 2-3 years clinical experience in Radiography • Possess a Registration Certificate with the Medical Radiation Technologist Board of Queensland • Possess state Radiation Licenses to Radiation producing apparatus.
• Demonstrated professional competence and knowledge within a clinic setting • Good interpersonal skills in order to show patients care, compassion and empathy • Ability to work as part of a team • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development • Expertise with Radiography equipment.
• Post graduate education in specialised modalities • Additional short courses such as Workplace Health and Safety courses, CPR or IV Cannulation Courses etc.
• Experience with Karisma RIS/PACS system Interested?
