The Role An exciting opportunity waits for a diverse role that involves working with cropping, cattle, and sheep for a leading farm hand position in Tintinara, South Australia. Our client operates a progressive business that has recently experienced significant growth and embraces modern technology to foster innovation within their operations. Operating on approximately 16,000 acres, with 14,000 acres designated as home property and an additional 1,700 acres located 70 km south, the operation has around 5,000 acres dedicated to crop production and pasture renovations. The crops include canola, wheat, barley, faba beans, and oats for hay and grain production. The remaining land is used for cattle and sheep, with the operation running 1,400 breeding cows and a self-replacing Merino flock consisting of 3,000 ewes. The operation also conducts annual pasture renovation programs, utilizing a lucerne-based perennial mix. The infrastructure is of excellent quality and well maintained, with new sets of Proway yards installed in recent years. For efficient management, they utilise Agriwebb, Agworld, water monitoring programs, as well as Greensatar and Trimble GPS systems to optimise their operations. As the Leading Farm Hand, the role will primarily focus on cropping, with 70% of the responsibilities related to cropping and 30% related to livestock. You will be responsible for operating and maintaining all machinery, including seeding, spraying, hay production, and harvesting equipment. There will be occasions when you will be required to assist with livestock operations, which will include animal husbandry duties. This position offers a diverse range of tasks, and as the Leading Hand, you will oversee 1 or 2 team members. The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate should have at least 2 years of experience in a similar role and possess a solid understanding of the broadacre cropping cycle. They should be passionate about the agricultural industry, as well as honest and enthusiastic.
