About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for you to leverage your leadership and training expertise to drive meaningful change at BHP. We are seeking a Superintendent Rail Training, reporting to the Manager Rail Academy. This role involves guiding and leading our Specialist Trainer teams across Rail Operations, Rollingstock Maintenance, and Rail Network Maintenance, directly influencing training strategy and performance.
Ideal candidates will possess strong people leadership skills and a passion for shaping frontline operational and maintenance training processes in a dynamic workforce. Utilizing your technical expertise, you will develop sustainable, scalable training plans to support workforce planning and meet our training obligations under the Rail Safety National Law. Responsibilities include identifying capability needs and designing learning programs to drive positive change.
This role offers FIFO from Perth 5/2/4/3 or residential arrangement 5/2 in Port Hedland.
Key responsibilities include:
• Fostering a safety-first culture
• Leading a capable team of Training Specialists and Specialist Trainers
• Conducting training needs analyses and developing departmental training plans
• Overseeing the design and implementation of training programs
• Ensuring optimal learning outcomes aligned with organizational objectives
• Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to enhance training delivery
• Managing and mentoring team members to meet performance targets
About You
• Strong commitment to safety
• Desire to build and lead an engaged team
• Proactive approach to promoting a safe working culture
• Relevant experience in a similar role
• Ability to interface with and influence senior leaders and stakeholders
• Mining and/or Rail optimization knowledge is highly regarded
• Understanding of the Rail Safety National Law and rail safety worker competence
• Problem-solving skills and initiative in identifying and implementing improvements
• Knowledge of Vocational Education Training methodologies and legislation
Successful candidates will have excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, a passion for learning and development, and a proven track record of delivering creative, customer-focused solutions. You will be a hands-on, self-motivated individual with the ability to collaborate across teams and drive change. Qualifications in training and development and demonstrated project management experience will be highly regarded.
