Senior Engineering Specialist VCS (Voice Communication System)
Location: Brisbane Airport (24-month contract, WFH options available)
Eligibility: Australian Citizens eligible for or holding an NV1 clearance
The Aerodrome Technology group in CTEO is responsible for the ongoing management, maintenance, and sustainment of Technology systems that form part of the National Airways System (NAS). As a Senior Engineering Specialist (VCS) working on the Aerodrome Platform portfolio of systems, you will be responsible for the technical performance, sustainment, and enhancements of one or more operational airways systems, ensuring they meet agreed-upon technical performance requirements and continue to provide services to the industry.
This role focuses on contributing aviation voice switching engineering expertise to the Air Traffic Management (ATM) Technology Replacement Program. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Perform system design, maintenance and support tasks throughout the system life cycle in accordance with safety and system management policies, frameworks, guidelines, and procedures.
2. Apply Systems Engineering and specialist expertise in the areas of planning, design, acquisition, and implementation of new systems and upgrades to existing systems.
3. Manage the technology change process, ensuring effective configuration management and change control is put in place.
4. Identify, manage, and track risks associated with the program of work.
5. Act as a trusted technology advisor, providing technical leadership and guidance as required, including safety and security guidance.
To be successful in this position, it is expected that you will have the following attributes:
1. A degree in Engineering or Information Technology from an Australian tertiary institution or certified equivalent qualification (for overseas qualifications).
2. Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in the relevant area of engineering in accordance with relevant legislation e.g. Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ).
3. A sound understanding of and demonstrated experience applying Systems Engineering practices throughout the SDLC and system management processes.
4. Extensive experience in the design, development, testing, and implementation of robust and reliable software systems, including overarching aspects of quality assurance and configuration management.
5. Demonstrated experience in stakeholder and vendor management.
Desirable:
Experience in designing, maintaining, and supporting technology systems, in particular:
1. N-tier architectures and distributed systems;
2. Real-time systems;
3. Message handling;
4. Internet technologies.
Understanding of Information Security Manual (ISM) and demonstrated experience in adhering to ISM principles and applying ISM controls.
