Position Description
The Board of The Kennedy Foundation Australia is seeking to appoint a passionate and accomplished Non-Executive Director. This individual will bring a strong commitment to the organisation’s mission and purpose, coupled with demonstrated leadership, business acumen, and governance qualifications.
In this role, the Director will leverage their expertise, profile, and networks to advocate for The Kennedy Foundation, raise vital funds, establish commercial and strategic partnerships, and amplify awareness of the organisation’s initiatives. As a small but dynamic not-for-profit with newly acquired Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status, The Kennedy Foundation is entering an exciting phase of growth, seeking to expand its reach and impact through innovative partnerships and fundraising opportunities.
Directors play a strategic and hands-on role, actively contributing to the organisation’s success. The Board comprises nine independent directors committed to the Kennedy Foundation’s mission. This is a voluntary, yet highly rewarding position that offers the opportunity to create meaningful change.
About the Kennedy Foundation
The Kennedy Foundation is a not-for-profit registered charity that exists to help The Kennedy Foundation excel, learn, contribute, and connect. Established in 2013, The Kennedy Foundation runs an annual national awards program for excellence in Australian journalism, scholarship opportunities for aspiring journalists, mentoring programs, and has a charitable wing to support journalists and their families fallen on hard times. Selection Criteria
Key Responsibilities: Who are we looking for and what should you possess?
* Strategic acumen, with the ability to guide and influence the Kennedy Foundation’s long-term vision and direction of growth.
* A capability to engage and build relationships with key corporate entities, cultivating a community of committed supporters to strengthen our financial position and grow our brand. And/or a record of philanthropic involvement, especially with high-impact initiatives.
* Experience in providing clinical governance and oversight of the organisation.
* A good knowledge of the Australian media industry.
* A personal passion for excellence in journalism based on the belief that a quality, independent media is essential to the productive health of the Australian community.
* Co-operative and strong ethical values. The ability to review the strategy through constructive questioning and suggestions and contribute to the effective decision-making of the Board.

* This is a volunteer role.
* Board meetings are held monthly online, generally after business hours for a duration of one hour.
* Candidate Location – All Australian-based candidates will be considered.
