A Day in the Life:You will be responsible for providing evidence-based, flexible, holistic and culturally sensitive occupational therapy services to Aboriginal children and adolescents aged 0-18 years in out of home care.You will work closely with families, carers, caseworkers and the multidisciplinary team to achieve client goals.Provision of service is flexible and can involve offsite clinics, preschool/ school visits and home visiting.You will provide assessment and intervention to children and young people with a range of developmental, behavioural and functional difficulties.You will use your understanding of trauma and development to inform your clinical practice and require strong communication and problem-solving skills to support your clients and their families.You will be responsible for reviewing, adapting and developing the KARI occupational therapy service based on the needs of the young people and their families and the current evidence base.Participation and leadership is expected in ongoing education, teaching, evidence based practice and quality improvement activities.You will provide supervision to a level 1/2 occupational therapist to support their clinical skill development.You will also be supported in this position by clinical supervision, ample education and training opportunities to ensure your professional development and success in this role.About Us:The department strives to consistently provide high quality and safe care by using evidenced-based assessments and interventions, and conducting high quality improvement projects.Staff are supported through the department's clinical governance structures including a competency framework and supervision.The dynamic nature of Liverpool Hospital and the department provides passionate, agile and adaptable clinicians an exciting work environment.What You'll be Doing:The senior occupational therapist provides clinical governance, leadership and expertise within occupational therapy services including the provision of safe, timely, compassionate and high quality person-centered care.Where You'll Be Working: Whilst you will have the benefits of working for NSW Health as part of Liverpool Hospital, this role is based with KARI Foundation with direct links and support from the Liverpool Hospital Occupational Therapy Department.KARI Foundation is an Indigenous not-for-profit organisation, building community strength, supporting well-being, and enriching lives through programs and services.This role forms part of a multi-disciplinary team of Allied Health therapists including: Speech Pathologist, Psychologists, Behaviour Support Plan Specialists, Paediatrician and Nurses, who provide quality assessment and intervention for Aboriginal children in clinical, school, and community settings. How to Apply:To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the below questions as thoroughly as possible.View our application guide for information on how to respond to criteria and improve your application.Recognised Degree in Occupational Therapy or other qualification deemed appropriate by the employer, with registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and advanced post graduate clinical skills and significant experience in the provision of occupational therapy services with a paediatric population.Demonstrated experience in the identification of evidence-based practice and/or development of treatment protocols.Demonstrated knowledge and experience in issues surrounding Occupational Therapy management of Aboriginal children and children in Out of Home Care (OOHC).Demonstrated experience participating in the planning, implementation and evaluation of local service delivery incorporating the quality improvement process.Demonstrated high level organisational and time management skills, with excellent written and verbal communication skills and computer literacy in a range of programs.Demonstrated experience in the provision of clinical supervision, mentoring of staff and/or students.Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2).Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment.Learner's licenses are not permitted.
