Master Steel specialise in the technical manufacture and assembly of asset integrity steel assemblies, sub-assemblies and components for the industrial and government sectors.
Master Steel is currently seeking Certified Trade Boilermakers and fabrication Welders specialising in steel, aluminium and stainless steel materials.
To be considered for this role you will be required to demonstrate the following.
Please NOTE: You must provide a copy of your Australian or Australian recognised Certification of a Boilermaker or Fabrication welder to be able to complete certified NDT Weld Tests.
* Minimum 3 years experience as a Boilermaker / Fabrication welder, performing MIG (GMAW)
* Understand the basics of your trade.
* Understand and correctly use required mathematics to complete the work task.
* Experience in a variety of steel grades using 3mm – 20mm plate and hot rolled sections.
* Welding of structural steel / plate work / various mining components (highly advantageous)
* MUST pass “Non-Destructive Tests” of 6 – 8mm Single / Multi Fillet and Butt welds 5 – 25mm.
* Position welding such as horizontal and vertical welding.
* Be able to use solid and Flux core welding wire with minimal weld and work piece clean up.
* Understand and adhere to welding procedures for various tasks.
* Possess a Mechanical aptitude.
Tasks involved:
* Read and understand shop drawings and specifications to determine job requirements via clear consulting handover.
* Select, clean and prepare metal stock.
* Mark out work pieces and process using magnetic drill, hand tools, flame cutting torches, angle grinders, polishing discs, pistol drills and thread taping.
* Experience in the use of horizontal band saws, hydraulic punch and shear, metal cutting and bending machines.
* Shape and bend metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools and by heating hardware.
* Aligns parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments.
* Join metal sections using various welding techniques and bolting.
* Examine welds for width of bead, penetration and precision.
* Various installation site works as required.

Monday to Thursday 6am – 2:30pm
Friday 6am – 12pm
