Mental health services are delivered to a population of approximately 214,000 people residing throughout the regions. This health service has three major hospitals providing a range of acute, sub-acute, community, mental health and dental services.
The Older Persons Mental Health Service provides expert mental health treatment, care and support to adults over the age of 65 who are experiencing mental illness, dementia with associated behavioural conditions and/or other age-related illnesses.
As the successful applicant, your responsibilities will include providing direct clinical care to elderly patients; ensuring high-quality clinical activity within the Older Persons Mental Health Service; supporting the development of contemporary and evidence-based specialist Older Persons psychiatry services; advocating and providing strategic advice regarding higher level clinical governance activities; and undertaking training, education, clinical and professional supervision of junior medical officers and medical staff.
In order to successfully undertake this role, you will be required to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team and provide liaison services to other clinical units, referring hospitals, specialists and GP's.
