Join our team as Property Sommelier at The Star Brisbane.
The Star Brisbane, positioned at the heart of the new Queen’s Wharf Brisbane precinct, will be Australia’s newest entertainment and leisure destination. Commencing a staged opening in 2024, The Star Brisbane will bring a range of unique entertainment options, world class hotels, dining, bars, luxury retail, gaming and a state-of-the-art Event Centre, transforming how people will play, shop and socialise in the river city.
The Sommelier, reporting to the Director of Food and Beverage, offers a unique opportunity to uncork your love of wine! In this role you will lead, develop, and mentor our food and beverage team in the delivery of excellence relating to our wine program. You will take our guests on a journey whilst offering expert guidance and recommending wines that complement food choices and meet their preferences.
A few of your responsibilities
· Collaborate with Restaurant Managers and Head Chefs in the matching of wines with the food offering
· Develop and implement The Star Brisbane wine menu creating a positive guest experience
· Determine strategic vendor partnerships in curating wine lists for each outlet, in conjunction with venue and procurement stakeholders
· Assist with the development and implementation of wine education programs to raise product knowledge across the property, drive sales and establish The Star Brisbane as a fine wine destination
· Liaise with The Star beverage suppliers to ensure appropriate cellarage of wine product and storage is met
What we will be looking for
· Extensive knowledge of wine and experience working with suppliers
· Court of Sommeliers accreditation is highly regarded
· Demonstrated ability in developing productive relationships
· Cert IV in Hospitality is highly desirable
· Accreditation of Responsible Service of Alcohol
· Membership of Australian Sommelier Association
About you
From wine to glass, you will be the orchestrator of memorable guest experiences across The Star Brisbane’s food and beverage outlets. You will come with a wealth of prior knowledge in a similar role within premium venues. Developing long lasting relationships and driving new ideas will be embedded in your ways of working. You will have the ability to build relationships both internally with your team, and externally with suppliers, to build wine lists across multiple venues that are not only creative but have been built with commercial sensibility.
