You’ll design and deliver tailored individual and group fitness programs that cater to varying fitness levels, ages, and health conditions. By promoting safe use of gym equipment and ensuring a positive fitness experience, you’ll help detainees engage in healthy activities and contribute to their overall welfare. In this role, you will work 7 days in a fortnight, working 12 hour hour shifts (6:00am - 6:00pm) and will be required to work every other weekend. As a Gym Officer in the Welfare and Engagement team, you’ll make a positive impact by: Conducting gym inductions and identifying health risks to ensure detainees’ safety Developing and delivering structured and unstructured fitness programs for individuals and groups Promoting safe and correct use of fitness equipment and ensuring equipment is maintained and sanitized Conducting other activities with detainees such as sports and recreation Monitoring and auditing fitness equipment to ensure availability and safe operation Serco is a place for you You are passionate about fitness and helping others improve their health. You have experience working in diverse cultural settings and possess excellent communication skills. Your ability to build rapport and ensure detainees feel supported in their fitness journey is key to this role. To be successful in this role you’ll have: Certificate III in Fitness or equivalent Fitness Registration First Aid and CPR qualifications, with at least 2 months validity (or ability to obtain) Working With Childrens Check Experience in managing and conducting fitness programs, ideally in diverse environments Strong organisational skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse individuals You do not need to match every listed expectation to apply for this position.
