Role Description
The successful applicant will have a passion for literacy and be responsible for targeted teaching and growth of teachers and students. They will work in a teaching team and instil in the students and staff a love of literacy and learning.
The successful applicant will be a skilled classroom practitioner with a passion for Literacy, familiar with the Victorian Curriculum 2.0 and a working understanding of the Victorian Teaching and Learning model 2.0, who is able to collaborate with the Leadership Team working towards improving learning outcomes for all students.
Range 2 classroom teachers play a significant role in assisting the school to improve student performance and educational outcomes determined by the school strategic plan and state-wide priorities and contributing to the development and implementation of school policies and priorities.
A critical component of this work will focus on increasing the knowledge base of staff within their school about student learning and high-quality instruction to assist the school to define quality teacher practice.
Role Expectations
Have the content knowledge and pedagogical practice to meet the diverse needs of all students.
Model exemplary classroom practice and mentor/coach other teachers in the school.
Provide advice about the content, processes and strategies that will shape individual and school professional learning.
Assist staff to use student data to inform teaching approaches that enable targets related to improving student learning outcomes to be achieved in Literacy.
Be informed by research and evidence-based practices, support the Leadership Team to review, plan and deliver a comprehensive and sequential program for Literacy.
Participate in the development and implementation of an action plan for the Literacy learning area.
Provide instructional leadership, working alongside Classroom teachers to provide mentoring/coaching of best practice.
Work collaboratively with the Leadership Team to analyse student and school-based Literacy assessment data.
Attend and contribute to Leadership meetings.
Identify and support the development of internal training and professional development opportunities for staff in line with whole school Literacy priorities.
Oversee the reporting and assessment practices in Literacy in consultation with Leadership.
Effectively communicate with colleagues and the school community regarding Literacy events and Exhibitions of Learning.
Support the facilitation of Parent Information Sessions as necessary.
Minimum Requirements
SC1 Demonstrated high level of knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills.
SC2 Demonstrated high level of ability to plan for and implement high impact teaching strategies.
SC3 Demonstrated high level of ability to monitor and assess student learning.
SC4 Demonstrated high level of interpersonal and communication skills.
SC5 Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values.
SC6 Demonstrated knowledge of Evidence Based Practices in education.
Who May Apply
Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.
