Terra Defensor is seeking Qualified Conservation and Ecosystem Management Field Workers for casual work, up to 38 hrs per week available Monday to Friday, in an expanding business with co-workers who are dedicated to providing quality work for both our clients and for the environment. The work will involve a wide range of ecological restoration projects in the Newcastle area, which will include bush regeneration, revegetation, revegetation maintenance, weed control, WQID maintenance, dune fence construction, and site stabilisation.
Preferred work criteria:
1. Tertiary qualification in Conservation and Land/Ecosystem Management (Cert III in CALM/CAEM preferred).
2. Ecological restoration field work experience.
3. Current chemical user training (eg AQF3 minimum).
4. Awareness and experience of WHS procedures and environmental legislation.
5. Good health, good work ethic, physical ability and mental capacity to undertake physically demanding, and often repetitive, outdoor work.
6. Strong team player, good interpersonal skills, ability to work independently.
7. Reliability and punctuality.
8. Manual car license.
9. Your own mode of transport due to the location of some sites.
Additional desirable criteria include:
Experience in operating and reversing a trailer, experience with using and maintaining petrol-driven hand power tools, current first aid, current working at heights, light truck experience and/or LR license class, supervisory experience, an ability to undertake sometimes repetitive work quickly and with a high level of quality, good native plant and weed identification skills, and formal training in related horticultural fields or tertiary/technical equivalent.
