Job DescriptionYour New Company:A leader in the delivery of large-scale infrastructure projects within the energy sector.
They are currently overseeing a significant transmission network project, which is among the largest of its kind in Australia, integrating wind, solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS) into the National Electricity Market (NEM).A specialised team has been established to drive the connection of renewable energy generators to this new network, offering a modern and efficient approach to network connections based around innovation, collaboration and engineering excellence.
Your New Role:You will join a team of world class power system engineers that are paving the way for a refreshed approach to transmission planning and delivery.
Working within a team that is focused on solving challenging problems, you will play a key role in conducting power system network and/or power quality studies to facilitate the seamless integration of renewable energy projects into the NEM.Your expertise will be essential in performing generator performance assessments, control integration, network studies and addressing complex power system challenges.
Key ResponsibilitiesIntegrating and assessing dynamic generator or synchronous machine models in PSS/E or PSCAD.Undertaking power quality studies in Power Factory, as well as preparing and presenting outcomes and analysis.Conduct power system studies, analyse results, and prepare technical reports.Identify and troubleshoot issues within network models and software.Evaluate generator compliance with performance standards and provide recommendations.Collaborate with internal teams to deliver high-quality analyses and reports.The ability to go to site to see the project first hand.The role can be based in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane, with a hybrid work environment offered.
Your SkillsetBachelor's degree in electrical engineering (or higher), majoring in power and control.Circa 3+ years' experience of power system operations, design, planning or connections experience.Experience with PSS/E, PSCAD, Power Factory and/or MATLAB.Strong understanding of generator performance standards and compliance assessment.Proficiency in technical report writing and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts.Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.If you're interested in a further discussion around the opportunity, please contact Nick Novak at West Energy on .
