Facilities and Grounds Maintenance Officer
The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Facilities and Grounds Maintenance Officer to join our team at the Malmsbury Youth Justice Precinct in Melbourne.
About the Role:
This fixed-term, full-time position offers a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of young people. As a Facilities and Grounds Maintenance Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining all grounds and buildings at the Precinct, providing high-level services aimed at improving the outcomes of young people's futures.
Key Responsibilities:
* Maintain buildings and grounds through organising, delivering, and sustaining various periodic and general building and grounds maintenance works.
* Provide services such as carpentry repairs, glazing, and manufacturing a range of fittings, mowing, pruning, spraying, mulching, watering, green waste removal, and propagation.
* Safely operate vehicles or powered equipment, including ride-on mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, chainsaws, electric clippers, sod cutters, pruning saws, forklifts, and elevated work platforms (EWP).
Requirements:
* Experience in building and/or grounds maintenance with the ability to perform varied building maintenance repairs, horticulture periodic, general, and reactive maintenance tasks.
* Competent in identifying problems and providing solutions through team engagement.
* Possess knowledge and skills in pest and disease control, wide-ranging horticulture techniques, and irrigation systems.
