About the Tasmanian State Service:
The Tasmanian State Service (TSS) is the largest employer in Tasmania, with over 28,000 employees providing services to the Tasmanian community at all levels.
The Role:
* Research, analyse and develop policy that guides professional practice in nursing and midwifery, and is consistent with agreed nation and statewide strategies.
* Provide expert policy advice to the Chief Nurse and Midwifery Officer to inform future statewide policy direction for nursing and midwifery professional practice.
* Build effective and productive networks with internal and external stakeholders to develop statewide nursing and midwifery policy aimed at promoting future workforce capacity across the Agency.
* Provide leadership and expert facilitation and consultation skills to achieve agreed outcomes with internal and external key stakeholders.
You will need:
* Extensive knowledge and experience in the development and implementation of nursing and midwifery policy to support professional practice.
* Broad and demonstrated understanding of the strategic issues relating to the current healthcare system and knowledge of national and international trends relating to nursing and midwifery workforce and service delivery.
* Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to develop and maintain productive networks with internal and external stakeholders and support effective teamwork within the unit.
Details of appointment:
Fixed term full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of approximately twelve (12) months. Some intrastate travel may be required.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $138,478 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
* Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type.

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
* Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse and/or Midwife.
