The Principal Engineer is responsible for assessing certifications and other documentation for compliance against the City's technical requirements and specifications relating to geo-technical, pavement design and asset safety issues for civil contributed assets, including roads, water supply and sewerage infrastructure, stormwater infrastructure and other civil assets.
Roles and Responsibilities:
* Provide specialist advice in relation to engineering certifications and ensuring they adhere to specified guidelines and standards.
* Undertake pavement design and construction methodology review against adopted technical specifications.
* Provide quality assurance confirmation to the Contributed Assets team and be responsible for the assessment of submitted pavement designs.
* Provide technical input for the work area's processes.
* Provide expert engineering advice in accordance with relevant statutory legislation and appropriate engineering specification regarding contributed assets related questions, issues, and conflicts.
* Liaise with developers and key stakeholders, as well as various government agencies (State and Local) to ensure development outcomes comply with Gold Coast Planning Scheme, Land Development Guidelines and the Planning Act 2016 related to contributed asset-related matters.
* Assist applicants to achieve fit-for-purpose contributed asset outcomes for the City by providing technical advice to comply with relevant standards and codes of practice.
* Investigate, record and provide timely responses to concerns regarding contributed engineering asset services.
* Any other reasonable tasks as directed by the Manager Contributed Assets.
About You:
You will have at least 7 years of civil engineering experience, particularly in design, construction, and development. You will hold a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil, a Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) status or have the ability to obtain within 3 months of employment.
In addition to this, you'll have:
* Demonstrated experience in pavement design and construction methodology review. Experience in the use of Cirly would be advantageous.
* Strong knowledge of engineering standards and guidelines including TMR specifications and IPWEQ standard drawings.
* Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with particular emphasis in conflict management and assertiveness.
* Extensive and practical knowledge in process review and improvement.
* Well-developed negotiation skills to influence stakeholders, create buy-in and maintain positive stakeholder engagement.
* Effective managerial and leadership skills.
