ELECTRICIAN (PART-TIME) Overview: As an Interior Electrician, you'll install, maintain, and safely distribute electricity, the driving force behind today's Army. You'll work on interior electrical systems, including transformers, circuit breakers, electrical boxes, and lightning rods. You'll test equipment and fix any short circuits in wires and faulty equipment, and you'll learn to read blueprints and wire plans to determine layouts and repairs. Job Duties: Install transformers, junction boxes, circuit breakers, service panels, switches, electrical boxes, and lightning rods.Read blueprints, wire plans, and repair orders to determine layouts/repairs.Test equipment for the operational conduction of circuits.Inspect power distribution systems, shorts in wires, and faulty equipment.Repair and replace faulty wiring and lighting fixtures. Requirements: Be between the ages of 17-40.Be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.Possess a High School Diploma or GED.Submit to background and medical screening.Receive a passing score on the ASVAB. Training: Job training for a Plumber requires 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and 7 weeks of Advanced Individual Training with on-the-job training with some classroom instruction. Some of the skills you'll learn are: Fundamentals of electricity.Electrical circuit troubleshooting.Safety procedures.Techniques for wiring switches, outlets, and junction boxes. Helpful Skills: Interest in electricity, science, and math.Ability to use hand tools.Preference for doing physical work.
