YOUR ROLE IN OUR FUTURE Diagnostic Imaging Medical Physics (DIMP) Registrar Position – Radiology Specialty The Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre is Australia's only public hospital solely dedicated to cancer and one of an elite group of hospitals worldwide with its own integrated cancer research program and laboratories.
Peter Mac boasts a comprehensive range of medical imaging equipment, primarily located at its Parkville (VCCC) location.
This includes computed tomography, mammography, general x-ray, and fluoroscopic equipment in the Radiology practice as well as hybrid CT imaging in nuclear medicine (PET & SPECT/CT).
We also support a dental oncology service with intraoral and CBCT imaging capabilities.
The Physical Sciences department at Peter Mac comprises a group of 33 medical physicists including two senior DIMPs supporting radiology and nuclear medicine.
A key role for the department is oversight of equipment compliance and quality programmes in the radiology specialty.
This includes machine testing and correspondence with the Victorian Department of Health, auditing of radiation dose reference levels, and dose quantification in incident follow-up.
The medical physics team is also involved in many development projects to support a complex oncology service which benefit from an interest in technical and problem-solving work.
Currently, we have an opportunity to employ one Diagnostic Imaging Medical Physics (DIMP) Registrar in the radiology specialty.
Applicants should have a post-graduate qualification in medical physics from a university course accredited by ACPSEM.
The successful applicants must enrol in the ACPSEM TEAP program for Radiology, and progress towards DIMP accreditation.

Potential candidates should be capable of self-directed work and have excellent problem solving skills.
Good oral and written communication skills are required, as is the ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team.
Registrars without clinical experience will be appointed to the position of Medical Physicist, Grade 1 and transition to Grade 2 (FF6) upon a successful performance assessment.
Registrars with clinical experience will have an opportunity to complete a performance assessment and be appointed at Grade 2 (FF6).

Participate in routine quality assurance and compliance testing tasks Annual/bi-annual compliance testing in accordance with DHS radiation licensing conditions.
QA program complies with Peter Mac requirements with respect to documentation, and scope and frequency of tests.

Contribute to diagnostic imaging optimisation and quality improvement tasks Participate in radiation dose and image quality audits as required and per best-practice Work with radiology staff to facilitate optimisation tasks 3.
Assist with patient and staff radiation safety tasks Respond and document radiation incidents Coordinate relevant correspondence with medical staff and assist with patient dose reporting Key Accountabilities (Contd..) 4.
