The Role
Your primary purpose in this position is:
6. To protect, preserve and enhance Council’s bushland reserves.
7. To facilitate community understanding of Council’s parks, natural reserves and areas of remnant vegetation.
Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:
General Duties
8. Operate items of plant, equipment and undertake associated manual tasks associated with the city’s Parks operational requirements.
9. Assist in the preparation and planning of revegetation works programs.
10. Perform a range of revegetation, maintenance, development and associated works including
o Identification of indigenous plants and weeds;
o Control of weeds using chemical, mechanical and manual methods; and
o Assist with the collection, preparation and storage of indigenous plant seed.
11. Assist with the planning and facilitation of community participation and reserve interpretation services.
12. Planning activities and other related recreational and educational activities.
13. Comply with all codes of practice and safe operating procedures.
Training
14. Undertake training as required.
15. Assist in the training of less experienced staff.
Record Keeping
16. Maintain records and provide information as required.
To be considered for this role you should have:
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
17. Heavy Rigid HR Drivers licence.
18. Relevant experience in Bushland Management
19. Experience with routine daily maintenance of minor plant and equipment
20. Team Player: Must work effectively in a team and be committed to public service.
21. Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication
22. Adaptability: Prepared to work in all weather conditions and on a roster that includes weekends and public holidays.
23. Certificates First Aid (Level 2) (with expiry date)
24. National police check (with Stat Dec) issued within the past 6 months
25. Ability to commit to rosters with a proven track record of good attendance and punctuality.
