Mallee District Aboriginal Services (MDAS) is seeking to appoint an Interim Risk and Governance Manager.
This is a six-month contract with the potential to transition into a permanent role, offering an opportunity to lead and shape governance and risk functions in a values-led organisation committed to Aboriginal self-determination.
About MDAS MDAS is Victoria's largest Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation, delivering holistic and culturally safe health, wellbeing, and social services to communities across Mildura, Swan Hill and Kerang.
With strong cultural foundations and a deep connection to community, MDAS plays a critical role in supporting Aboriginal people to thrive.
The Role As Interim Risk and Governance Manager, you will provide immediate leadership across MDAS's enterprise risk, compliance, internal audit and governance frameworks.
Reporting to the Executive General Manager of Corporate Services, you will ensure these functions continue to support safe, high-quality services during a key transition period.
The role is based in Mildura, with a degree of flexible work arrangements and occasional travel to regional sites.
You will be required to spend most of your time in Mildura.
Key Focus Areas Lead and embed enterprise risk and compliance systems in line with sector standards Oversee internal audits and accreditation support Provide governance advice to the executive team and board Develop reporting tools and frameworks that build organisation-wide capability Support quality improvement initiatives across MDAS services About You You are a hands-on, strategic governance or risk leader with the ability to step into a high-impact interim role.
You bring experience from community services, healthcare, or public sector environments and are skilled at delivering structure, clarity and engagement across varied teams.
You have relevant qualifications in risk, governance, quality, law or similar fields.
Experience working with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations or in culturally safe environments will be highly regarded.
Most importantly, you are values-led, collaborative, and committed to supporting strong, accountable, and community-empowered service delivery.
