Environmental Health Officer We are looking for an Environmental Health Officer who enjoys providing guidance and raising awareness of environmental health within the community. Salary range of $91,278 to $129,000 depending on experience up to 15% (after probation) Location: Launceston Permanent opportunity A nine-day fortnight Flexible work arrangements - work from home available Responsibilities: Manage applications for licenses, registrations, and permits, ensuring approvals, renewals, and transfers are completed within statutory timeframes. Conduct inspections, audits, and enforce regulations for activities licensed or approved by the Council. Conduct professional investigations, liaise with legal representatives, and execute warrants or Court Orders. Assist in developing budgets, policies, procedures, and reports related to environmental health and inspectorate functions. Provide environmental and public health advice for development applications and recommend conditions of approval. Lead and supervise the environmental health and municipal inspectorate team. Requirements: At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role Tertiary qualifications in Health Science (Environmental Health) Strong investigative skills, including evidence gathering and applying legislation with sound judgment based on risk management principles. Proven knowledge of, and experience in, assessing applications and investigating complaints related to environmental health, public health, and food businesses Experience in assessing on-site wastewater treatment systems.
