The Opportunity
We are seeking a talented Production Engineer/CAM Programmer with a minimum of 5 years relevant industry experience, preferably with experience in advanced manufacturing within the aerospace industry. With a passion for technology, automation and digital production, you’ll be part of a small (but growing) CAM team, interfacing with some of the most advanced engineering and manufacturing technology in the industry.
In your role you will be responsible for:
* Generating timely, high quality CAM data/NC code to suit HeliMods' expanding range of advanced multi-axis CNC machines (including 5+ axis machines)
* Collaborating with manufacturing work-center operators and engineering team members to ensure project deliverables are met.
* Providing review and feedback on designs in relation to their manufacturability
* Creating estimates of time required to generate CAM data in support of both internal projects and "Build-to-Blueprint" external manufacturing jobs
* Performing checking and providing feedback on CAM data generated by others in the team
* Championing best practice and continuous improvement initiatives within CAD/CAM and machining to optimise efficiency and quality.
* Providing direct assistance to machining operators through first of type manufacturing processes.
* Mentoring and sharing your knowledge with the broader team to improve awareness of 'design for manufacture' principles.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
* Engineering bachelor’s degree (or similar), OR Industry / Trade-level qualification.
* 5+ years’ experience in the automotive, aerospace, or other high precision industry desirable.
* 3+ years' experience using advanced 3D CAM software - preferably Siemens NX CAM.
* Experience as a CNC machinist desirable.
* Experience with HAAS machine centres, including tooling and work holding desirable.
* Experience in proving CAM, 1st of type production, and integrating with an engineering team.
A top performer in this role will:
* Be able to efficiently generate high quality CAM inputs for 5-axis CNC machines operating at high-speeds.
* Be able to both generate CAM and operate CNC machine centres.
* Be willing to learn and develop skills to operate new types of advanced CNC equipment.
* Seek to facilitate automation wherever possible and takes an innovation approach to problem solving
* Work with minimum guidance, managing time and priorities efficiently and effectively.
