Our Federal Government Client has an exciting opportunity for a Data Analyst on a 6 month Non ongoing assignment based in Canberra or Brisbane.
Must be Australian CitizenClearance: BaselineLocation: Canberra or BrisbaneContract: 6 months non ongoing About the Finance and Investment Division The Finance and Investment Division enhances the department's efficiency, financial sustainability, and business partnerships by providing expert financial and management support to key stakeholders.
The division delivers high-quality services and advice, ensuring alignment with government priorities and maintaining financial sustainability.
Financial Operations Branch The Financial Operations Branch offers shared services, including travel management, procurement, grants policy, payroll, debt management, and project oversight for critical division projects.
If successful you will: Provide strategic advice on travel management in line with Australian Government guidelines.
Assist with mandatory travel reporting, including carbon emissions tracking.
Lead the development and review of policies and processes to improve domestic and international travel functions.
Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders to ensure compliance with governance frameworks.
Offer high-level research, analysis, and technical advice.
Drive innovation and process improvements within the team.
Ensure the travel intranet page is updated and aligns with changes.
Develop and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Manage complex transactional issues and provide solutions.
Occasionally oversee the travel team in delivering advice.
Support senior leadership as needed.
Essential knowledge and experience required for the role: Able to self-manage, prioritise workloads and work within deadlines.
Knowledge of operational requirements for the annual net zero reporting is desirable but not essential.
Ability to analyse travel policy requirements while providing advice to the department.
Ability to establish and manage internal and external stakeholder relationships, display resilience and develop productive working relationships.
Experience in using financial management systems and analyse data/information by providing timely and accurate advice and communicate information specific to the role.
Understand the Whole of Australian Government travel service arrangements.
The ability to deliver outcomes in support of entity objectives, work to tight deadlines, and be able to get across new issues quickly.
Key skills: Good analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to gather and interpret information on a diverse range of issues to support policy development and decision making.
Highly developed communication, writing, interpersonal and administration skills.
Ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, both within the department and external parties.
Ability to work under limited supervision and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
Display a high level of Initiative, strong problem-solving skills, organisational skills, and an ability to think laterally.
Ability to assess and evaluate strategies, initiatives, projects, policies, procedures and identify innovation and continuous improvement opportunities.
