About the Role: This role promotes culturally safe practices while contributing to initiatives aligned with the mission and values of Churches of Christ. As a First Nations Support Practitioner, you will:
* Provide culturally safe, inclusive support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people, and families.
* Partner with foster and kinship carers to ensure safety, stability, and wellbeing.
* Conduct assessments, deliver short-term interventions, and prepare suitability reports for carers and children.
* Facilitate evidence-based parenting programs and model strategies to address family needs.
* Build strong networks by collaborating with community agencies and referral partners.
About You: You are passionate about First Nations culture, and your skills reflect your commitment to improving the lives of children and families. To be suitable for this position, ideally you will have:
* A degree qualification in social work, psychology, social sciences, or a related discipline—or equivalent expertise (minimum Certificate III in Community Services) with more than four years of experience as approved by the State or Operations Manager.
* Applied knowledge and understanding of child protection and out-of-home care frameworks, including the Child Protection Act 1999 or the ability to acquire this knowledge.
* A demonstrated ability to complete assessments for care.
* Knowledge of the contemporary challenges faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
* Experience working with First Nations communities, with cultural competence and sensitivity.
Requirements: A current driver's license (P2 minimum). The ability to obtain a Blue Card, National Police Certificate, and Child Safety Screening.
Salary: $75,000 - $90,000 per annum
