About the JobWe are assisting our client in their search for a Principal Ecologist with 8+ years of experience working in Queensland to join our passionate and entrepreneurial team based in Brisbane. In this role, you'll support the growth of the Ecology Discipline in Queensland, working on a diverse range of projects across the private, government, and resource sectors. This is a unique opportunity offering the potential for either a technical leadership role within the team or a 2IC position, collaborating closely with the Discipline Lead to develop and expand our presence across Queensland. About the Role In this role, you will lead, plan, and implement various ecological investigations, including: Baseline ecological surveys Ecological monitoring Regional ecosystem classification Bio-condition assessments Fauna surveys Protected plant surveys Offset suitability assessments You'll also be responsible for data analysis, mapping, and impact assessments, as well as preparing and reviewing technical reports, including investigation reports, constraints assessments, ecological management plans, offset strategies, and impact assessments. Additionally, you'll manage ecology projects and client relationships, scope and lead proposals, and support the well-being, development, and resourcing of team members. Participation in business development activities, such as regular meetings, workshops, and training, is also expected. About You You are eager to contribute to the growth and development of our ecology team and discipline, with 8+ years of relevant ecological experience, primarily in Queensland. You have experience in leading the delivery of ecological field and monitoring programs, as well as supporting technical reports. A Class C, open licence is required, and experience with 4WD is desirable. You should be willing and able to travel as needed, including working remotely with other ecologists in the field. Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and data management systems is preferred.
